On-line Gallery and Juried Shows

WCA San Diego's
On-line Gallery and Juried Shows

In today’s world an internet presence is more important than ever, yet the technology for creating and hosting a website still eludes many due to its complexity and cost. As an artist, we know you want to concentrate on that which you do best – art.

To help our members Women’s Caucus for Art San Diego (WCA SD) has launched an on-line gallery and exhibition venue. It is our intention to provide a venue to present traditional and non-traditional artwork for our members and to host juried exhibitions for all artists.

In a refreshing departure from traditional gallery operations, artists will not have to play the who-knows-who, elitist game to be featured in this gallery. They will be selected for their talent. Our online art gallery will be dedicated to helping contemporary artists display their original art while making it easier for the public to find them. Use the online gallery to search or browse for original art, then contact the artists or their galleries. We simply highlight the artists and their art. We provide a way to find art, artists, and galleries and help artists promote their contemporary art.

This new on-line gallery is an economical way for women artists to promote their work while participating in WCA SD’s ever growing on-line presence! Artists can market their internet presence as if it were a "stand-alone" web site.

In addition to being an on-line gallery this new platform provides a venue for artists to participate in juried and non-juried exhibitions.

Our First On-line Juried Show

Going Green - Summer 2010

The exhibition objective is to present a collection of work that uses organic, natural, sustainable. recycled materials, non-toxic materials or digital methods.  It is hoped that the works will educate the audience about environmental crises; art that informs and interprets natural processes; art that reinvents or reclaims natural found articles; and art that celebrates our emotional and physical connection to the earth. Ultimately, the juror seeks visually compelling creations that educate, enlighten, and inspire stewardship of the earth.

Mollie Kellogg, local artist will be our juror.  Mollie studied art in Colorado starting her career in graphic design and illustration.  In 1992, she co-founded Planet Earth Multi-Cultural Theatre and Gallery in Phoenix, Arizona.  In 2002, Mollie moved from Seattle, Washington to San Diego, California where she is working full-time as an artist.

The juror will be looking for art that incorporates natural processes; art that reinvents or reclaims natural found articles; and art that celebrates our emotional and physical connection to the earth. Ultimately, she seeks visually compelling creations that educate, enlighten, and inspire stewardship of the earth.

All media welcome.
